Double Shell System® utilizes two layers of shells to prevent any wetness from breaking through due to harsh outdoor conditions. The system simultaneously inhibits condensation from forming on the inside. Midshell® (L4) and Outer Shell (L5) Layers boast exceptional waterproof and breathable properties, ensuring that you remain dry and comfortable without heaviness.
The synergy benefits created by L4 and L5 are similar to that of a double window pane system, which are used in colder climates to prevent fogging and dewy condensation of windows.

Water ResistanceTest
A mannequin was made to wear underwear, and each test specimen was worn over it. Place it in the shower room, apply a predetermined amount of rain from the top of the mannequin for 2 hours, and measure the estimated amount of water leaking into the underwear every 30 minutes. Finetrack's double shell® can reduce the amount of leakage to about half compared to a general outer shell.
Condensation Test
The test fabric was placed in a water bath set at 36°C, and the dew condensation on each specimen was measured. With the Double Shell®, the amount of condensation on the L4 Mid Shell® , which is closer to the skin , can be reduced to approximately 60% compared to a single outer shell.
To test the effectiveness of the Double Shell System®, two mannequins were tested with application of a predetermined amount of water for a duration of 2 hours. Double Shell System® was found to be twice as effective in preventing water from leaking into the layers when compared to a standard outer shell.
Double Shell System® is the final component of Finetrack’s 5 Layer System® and provides thorough protection against external moisture from entering into the garments with its double barrier.
By keeping condensation levels to a minimum, the waterproof, breathable membrane's benefits are fully realized when combined with Link Dry®. Sweat is effectively managed from the inside and out, which results in improved comfort and safety of the wearer by preventing extreme cool downs.
