What makes a comfortable Mid Layer for active outdoor pursuits?

Insulation alone cannot provide optimal comfort

Insulating garments such as fleece and interior down can overheat, while moisture can accumulate on the inside of the garment, causing stuffiness during your hike, snowshoe trek, or other outdoor activity.Sweat-soaked insulated clothing makes it difficult to maintain warmth.

After 0.6ml of water was applied, the residual moisture weight was measured over time, with the time it took to drop below 10% as benchmark. Finetrack®'s Mid Layer series drops to 10% moisture content significantly faster than other Mid Layers with comparable warmth retention. In the wearer, this contributes to a dry feeling that lasts longer while reducing the chill that comes from moisture accumulation.

Finetrack® researchers devised a method of artificially creating a resting state from a state of perspiration immediately after exercise, and measured humidity over time between a heating plate that mimics skin and the Mid Layer fabric. The initial humidity in the garment was adjusted to 53%, and the humidity regulation was graphed to reflect the transition from sweaty exertion to a resting state.Results demonstrated that the POLYGON 2UL Mid Layer rapidly declined from a high-humidity state to the initial in-clothing humidity baseline, approximately 30 minutes faster than a typical down jacket.

The DRAUGHT® structure, expertly engineered and developed by Finetrack®, consists of three perspiration-processing layers. The lining, "Sweat-absorption layer", which has an uneven texture, quickly absorbs perspiration at the contact points, passes it through the "Moisture-conductive layer", and the "Diffusion layer", the outer surface of the fabric leading to evaporation. The fabrics and materials work together as a synergistic trinity to handle perspiration efficiently while preventing the return of moisture, even when perspiration continues from ongoing exertion.

FINEPOLYGON®, the world's first sheet-type three-dimensional insulation material, doesn't retain perspiration moisture absorbed by the lining and doesn't lose its loft when wet. In tandem with its excellent breathability, FINEPOLYGON® quickly expels sweat from the inside of the garment. It absorbs and diffuses liquid perspiration quickly, and then rapidly evaporates it, thus maintaining a dry and comfortable interior environment, even during exertion that tend to create heat and stuffiness.

Ventilation with Linkvent®

All series of mid-layers are equipped with Linkvent® to efficiently ventilate the inside of the wear while wearing the wear and adjust the heat and temperature.
