Flexible comfort
The three-dimensional design and motion-adaptive knit fabric make MID SHELL® ideal for active pursuits that require a lot of movement. MID SHELL® is so supple and comfortable against the skin that it almost feels as if you aren't wearing it.
Excellent water resistance and breathability.
It's not uncommon to find yourself in a situation where you can't continue wearing an outer shell, but when you take it off, you quickly get cold. MID SHELL® is water-resistant yet breathable enough that it's possible to go without rain gear in light rain or snow, and it can handle a wide range of weather conditions and temperature variations.
*note that, as it isn't seam-treated, MID SHELL® isn't completely waterproof and not necessarily intended to be used as a substitute for rain gear.

Layering Techniques for Safety in Extreme Weather
As L4, your MID SHELL® fortifies your layering system to protect you from moisture entering the outer shell.Facing the elements in the mountains, you'll often have to deal with rain or snow blowing sideways. Even when wearing a fully waterproof outer shell, it's possible for some moisture to find its way into your interior clothing layers in extreme weather.With a standard outer shell alone, rain or snow that enters through the collar or cuffs will wet the garments worn underneath. Also, the temperature difference between the outside air and the interior of the shell creates a condition that allows condensation to form more easily. That's where MID SHELL® comes in.

DOUBLE SHELL® synergy resists extreme weather
Alone, the windproof, water-resistant, yet breathable MID SHELL® protects against wind and light rain, but when used in combination with the Finetrack® OUTER SHELL, the synergistic DOUBLE SHELL® effect can thoroughly prevent moisture from permeating the interior layers. As with double-pane windows, the "double sash effect" also minimizes condensation inside the garment, further improving safety and comfort.
